PUBLICATIONS

I have written articles for some national magazines in the mid to late 1990s in the Netherlands (in Dutch of course). Here follows a brief summary.

MCCM

(1995 - 1997)

The MCCM was the leading magazine dedicated to a home computer system called MSX. It was published in the Netherlands but was also available in Belgium. The articles I wrote for them were of a technical nature and delved deep into the MSX system. Most of the articles I co-wrote with a good friend of mine, Bas Vijfwinkel, for our own column called 'Techno Talk'. At the time of writing the magazine had an audience of an estimated ten thousand. For more information see the MCCM/MCCW web-site.

Animenia

(1994 - 1996)

Animenia was the first independent dutch manga/anime fanzine, founded in 1994 when publishing companies such as Manga Entertainment tried to open a new market. This 2 monthly magazine was sold in shops all over the Netherlands. It contained mainly reviews of new (and classic) anime releases but also provided in-depth articles about many other anime related topics. I wrote my articles under the rather unimaginative pseudonym 'Retaliator' (the Animenia staff was really into laser-gaming at the time ;) Me and my friends had a great time working for this magazine and even attended some big anime conventions in the United Kingdom. Sadly, poor marketing strategies applied by Manga Entertainment led to the 'demise' of anime in the Netherlands at the time and we could only continue the magazine for about 3 years.
