As part of a summer job at Gamegate.com, I was asked to look into some performance issues for one of their online Pac-Man clones called 'Roboman'. The browser applet did not run stable on older PCs nor on Macs it seemed.
After having looked at the source code I deemed it unsalvageable because of major threading issues and very inefficient pieces of spaghetti-code. Therefore, I was allowed to rewrite it from scratch as long as none of the gameplay and designs were changed. The new version was much more stable, properly commented, integrated better with Gamegate.com's new core libraries and had only a minimum of threading overhead. As a bonus, I added a little 'animated' title screen for fun.
You can probably still play Roboman on-line.
